Tony

tony01When Tony came off the plane and I met him at the airport, I was glad to see his tail wagging and a happy face. It seemed he wasn’t much phased by the trip. He seemed confident and a sweetheart.

He went to stay with a friend of mine who does all breed rescue for a week while I was at dog camp. She said he was a wonderful, sweet boy, and he liked to bark a bit. She took him on walks and he had a great time. He loves walks!

After I got back from camp I took Tony into our house. Again he seemed to be happy to be around. As far as I know, Tony had to be surrendered by his Dad because the Dad had to go into a nursing home. The Dad’s son got Tony, but didn’t want to keep him so left him in a shelter. Houston Collie Rescue pulled him out. But he had to go into boarding for four months, because they are so swamped they don’t have enough foster homes for all their dogs.

Tony loves being in a home. He is very affectionate, gets along with all the other dogs, and still loves to go for walks. I don’t think Tony is as confident as I had originally thought. As he settles in, he seems a bit worried. I think he has missed having attention for a few months, and is worried that is going to happen to him again. He follows me around the house and loves to get snuggles and hugs. He is a little insecure, but with time he will come along and trust that he’s in homes now.

Tony does like to bark more than the other collies, but he settles down really well. He mostly barks if I have to leave him in a room where I am not. Sometimes when the dogs are being fed, they have to be in a separate room.

Tony really needs a forever home where he can completely settle in and have someone love him forever. He would be great with kids and other dogs. He barks at the cats, so we think he would be best in a non cat home.

I might need some healthcare management software so I can keep track of the expenses of these rescues!

Hi Marie thanks so much for your comment! I love to hear from others who have known these dogs. Tony is such an amazing boy, and he does sure love his walks. He gets all excited when the leash comes out. He loves his treats, too, and he also loves to steal a toy from our non-dog room (where the new toys are hidden, I always let him have one though when we go in there for something, he gets so happy). He loves to carry toys around. I just adore Tony.
