Pictures of Jessi

Jessi running Here are some super cute pictures of Jessi. Do you think she is a collie mix? She went to the vet yesterday afternoon and had a good checkup. The vet pulled an awful, huge, weed out of her ear (what the weed is called escapes me at the moment). It looks like she is not spayed so she is getting spayed on August 20th. And she does have kennel cough. She has to get over the kennel cough before she can be spayed.

Did you know there are 5 different things that can be kennel cough? Two are bacteria and three are viruses. The bordatella vaccination that is given out is for one of the bacterial types. There are no vaccinates for the other bacterial type or the three viruses. So even if your dog is vaccinated she could catch it. However, our keeper dogs don’t seem to be affected. But they are healthy and strong, get exercise and good raw food, so hopefully they just won’t pick it up.

So what do you think, do you think Jessi is a collie mix? We are still not sure. The vet and the people at the vet office thought she is mostly shepherd. Maybe she could have golden retriever mixed in there…. or she could be collie. We here at collie rescue love all breeds, and all mixed breeds. And we wish we could do more for all the dogs that need homes. Limiting our rescue to collies and collie mixes is so we can self-limit and say no when we need to. Since we don’t have any collies in rescue right now, we said yes to taking Jessi. And we are so glad we did. Jessi Tugging

She is an amazing girl. Completely house trained, loves to play with toys and play tug. She gets along great with our other dogs and loves people. She doesn’t get on the furniture. She chews up toys but doesn’t seem to chew anything else. She loves walks, though she pulls a bit. She is not a good eater. The vet thinks maybe she ate grocery store junk food with lots of additives and flavors. She is now on Avoderm Baked and we put cottage cheese on it and she likes that cottage cheese. Or we put some ground raw on it and she likes that, too.

Jessi on the Grass

Jessi will not officially be up for adoption until she is spayed and her kennel cough is gone. Her spay is on the 20th of August, so perhaps a week or so after that she will be ready to go to a new home. If you are interested in Jessi please come back to visit, I hope to get regular posts up about her progress.

She is afraid of the stairs, and even of going into the kitchen. Her full personality is just starting to shine through, as we have had her five days now and it usually takes dogs that long to really settle in and relax.

We already love this sweet girl! The two smaller images on this page… if you click on them, they will open in a bigger window where you can see more detail. Please comment if you have a guess as to what breed(s) she really is!

On this day..

ummmm…. Heinz 57….? I can definitely see why they say maybe Golden/GSD, but she does have a Collie “look” about her, doesn’t she? Do you have an idea of how old she may be? She looks young-ish maybe. In any case, she is quite a pretty little thing!

Wow. She looks amazingly like my dog, Tiny. They have very similar faces, I wonder if she’s her sister Goldie. Anyway, Tiny is Australian Shepherd & German Shepherd and probably other stuff, too. *L*

Hi Dyane, she very well could be the same mix as yours, or similar! Tiny sounds like a cutie.

Based on the pictures, she’s got a strong Collie blood in her. Anyway, what matters is Jessi seems to be a great dog and these tips you gave her are awesome! With these pictures, one more step and Jessi can be a celebrity! I have a collie of my own and Bart’s photos are up front in my personalized checks. Would you like to put Jessi’s pix in your personalized checks, too? Click here. Thanks for sharing to us this blog and I hope you will also enjoy what I’ve shared! Thanks again!
